The concept behind BASICS EQUESTRIAN started in 2018 when our Founder & CEO found herself searching for well made and simply designed horsewear at an affordable price. When she realized that the options were limited she decided to take the unfulfilled need into her own hands and BASICS EQUESTRIAN has been evolving ever since!

When the vision for BASICS EQUESTRIAN was coming together we knew that we wanted to provide equestrians with horswear products that are staples in their tack locker - the basics. Simplicity | Functionality | Affordability are always at the forefront of our designs.
What are the basics that you need day in and day out at the barn? Our goal is to continue introducing more products to fulfill all of your basic equestrian needs.
Through connections in the equine industry our founder was fortunate to come across mentors that continue to successfully navigated the world of horsewear manufacturers, providing great insight when it comes to sourcing manufacturers overseas. Before we select a manufacturer we do a thorough background check with the Canadian Trade Commission. In addition, we believe that it is important to get to know the people making our products, we are proud of the positive personal relationships that we have formed with our manufacturing partners!
Our horsewear products are currently made in India. We selected our manufacturers in India because of their strong skillset, history and knowledge of equine wear! Our brandwear is currently created in Burlington. Shoutout to CottonInk Apparel for doing such a phenomenal job!

YES! We love an embroidered horse product just as much as the next equestrian! When you purchase a saddle pad there is an option for custom embroidery! Please select the font + enter the text you would like on your saddle pad. PRODUCTS
All of our products are named after horses, dogs & other animals that have touched our lives!
GSM stands for Grams per Square Meter - just a fancy term referring to the amount of polyfill (polyester fluff) per square meter of fabric, usually referring to horse blankets & saddle pads.
Our saddle pads are filled with polyfill (fancy term for polyester)! Polyester has great properties for horsewear products:
Durability - it is strong enough to withstand daily barn wear and tear!
Wicking Properties - absorbs moisture and evaporates quickly, wahoo!
Quick Dry - no one wants to wait for their saddle pads and blankets to dry for hours after a ride!
Easy Care - throw your saddle pad or exercise rug straight into the wash!
The outside of our saddle pads are also polyester - the fabric is used for the same great reasons listed above with the addition of being stain resistant!

Safety is one of our top priorities | having an extra strong velcro closure ensures that your polos will not unwrap when you are flatting, jumping or out for a gallop in the field! We know that being a bit more diligent when wrapping your polos (to avoid catching the velcro on the fabric) is worth it for the safety of you and your horse.
LOVE & CARE
YES! We know your time is valuable and we don’t want our products to get in the way of that. Machine wash cold with like colours on delicate!
Yes! The polo bag can go in the wash | machine wash cold with like colours on delicate. It is recommended that the polo bag does not get washed with the polos!
Nope, as long as you dry them on delicate & the lowest heat setting. We DO recommend hang drying our products if you have the time as it is much easier on the fabrics!
You technically can! However, we suggest that you hang them to dry to prevent the velcro from catching on the elastic, fleece or other garments you have in the dryer.

Not what you are looking for? If you don’t love your BASICS EQUESTRIAN product you have 21 days to return an item. As long as the product is unused, in the same condition that you received it and with the tags still on, we will gladly refund your purchase and work with you to make sure you get exactly what you are looking for next time! If you don’t love the colour or style of your original product we will be happy to exchange it for you, please send us an email at info@basicsequestrian.com with the subject 'exchange & your order number' to let us know what you will be exchanging your item for (your new item must be of equal or greater value to your original order). We will offer exchanges up to 21 days after you receive your product as long as your product is in its original state with the tags on. We will also provide you wth a return authorization number!
